Event Description

Beyond Language Barriers: Strategies to Engage with Latinx Communities

Cintia Aguilar and Roberto Rosales will provide best practices, tools, and resources to help your Extension program increase engagement with the Latinx community—whether you are in ag, food and nutrition, community and rural development, or 4-H, and whether you speak Spanish or not. The Latinx community makes up 4.2% of Kentucky’s population and will continue to grow. It is important to recognize that the Latinx community is not a monolith, and learning how to engage them in Extension programs will contribute to building integrated communities.

Presenters:

Cintia Aguilar, Latino Programs Manager - Community and Rural Development for North Carolina State Extension, CALS, NC State University

Roberto Rosales, Program Coordinator, Farmworker Health and Safety Educator for North Carolina State Extension, CALS, NC State University

Host:

Nicole Breazeale, PhD, Associate Extension Professor in the Department of Community & Leadership Development, University of Kentucky
